Ode to Water

Updated: 4 days ago

As a holistic and metaphysical practitioner, much of my work is focused on helping people work through challenges, heal trauma, and/or relay messages from the dead. Last month, I decided to try a change of pace. I hosted an event called Paddle the Bay. It was a morning of stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) around Ballena Bay, followed by healthy snacks, a meditation on the universal elements, and a beach ceremony.

It couldn’t have been a more perfect Sunday— sunny skies, calm waters, and an lovely group. We shared that hypnotic Zen feeling being immersed with nature; easy-going connections; and co-created inspiring beach art. It was a reminder that life is good, instead of getting caught up in what’s wrong with the world, or the individuality of our own lives. It was also not about taking photos, but rather taking in the life. When that happens, we get a raise from the Big Boss universe! Yes, an increase in our vital energy, consciousness, and overall wellness.

The benefits of being in, on, near water, or gazing at it is also known as the Blue Mind effect. This meditative state boosts serotonin levels (a natural mood enhancer!) and such natural environments are full of negative ions to help cleanse your energy. It's no wonder why many people love onsens (Japanese hot springs), Hammams (Turkish baths), and spending time around various bodies of water. People who visit or live on an island also tend to be more relaxed than others.

It's still summer! Find your therapeutic experience with water, and be one with the elements!

We'll be continuing on with our Paddle the Bay event for the next two months: Aug. 23rd and Sept. 20th. If you are in the Bay Area, hope you can join us! August will feature Qigong-Tai Chi on the beach!
