They're With Me (and You) in Spirit

My flight from Buffalo, New York was at 7:40 am. The boarding gate was due to close at 7:10 am. I worked out the math in my head. It takes an hour to reach the airport from Lily Dale. If I got a ride by 6 am, I could make my flight. But there were no public transport options, rideshares, or taxis in this teeny tiny village where I had spent the past two days visiting this community of Spiritualists (mediums). I had been standing outside in the dark since 5:30 am.

“C’mon Lily Dale vibes! Work with me!” I pleaded under my breath. I wondered if there was a specific technique to 'spiritually' summon a ride to the airport.

“Spirit World, you were there the other day when you showed me a massive cloud formation of an angel that I excitedly pointed out to people at sunset.

You were there at the Mediumship Development Circle last night when you helped me bring forward a participant’s deceased mom and a message.

You were there at the Healing Temple when you helped another medium bring through my late mom with detailed evidence and a heartwarming message.

And we just spent 5 days at Tony Stockwell’s Trance Mediumship Workshop in NY. You helped me practice Trance Healing, Trance Speaking, and Transfiguration.

Spirit World, we’re pals! Can you please help me?”

Suddenly, a truck appeared from around the bend, and a woman rolled down her window. Trying to appear friendly, harmless, and calm, I blurted out, “Hi, are you heading to Buffalo by any chance? I’m trying to catch a flight.”

“Sorry, no,” she replied. “I’m just dropping off my husband at work. But I can take you to Fredonia, a town about 20 minutes away. It’s on the main highway. You might be able to catch a ride there.”

“Great! Thank you!! Do you know any taxi drivers in the area?”

She thought for a moment. “Actually, I do know someone who helped me once when my truck broke down. He said to call him anytime if I ever needed help. I think he drives people to the airport for a fair rate. Let me find his number."

I don’t know about you, but I don’t answer calls at 6 am. Apparently a guy named Eric does. Before I know it, I am in the woman Marion’s truck, and she has arranged a drop-off/ pick-up in front of Fredonia’s movie theatre with Eric. They both said that I won’t make the flight, but at least I’ll be at the airport. I said that was completely fine, and I’ll figure it out once I’m there.

At one moment in the car, Marion asked me, “Were you at Maplewood Hotel (in Lily Dale) the other day? I am the manager there.” I thought for a moment, “Wait, I did come in! It was for about 20 seconds. I heard it was a historical site, so I just popped my head in to take a peek! I remember you now at the reception desk!” As it turns out, the woman was from San Francisco, Bay Area, California— just like me! They had move to NY about 10 years ago.

If those two coincidences were not winks from the Spirit World, I don’t know what is.

Although it felt like we were driving excruciating slow, I reached the boarding gate on time and caught my flight. I honestly couldn’t believe it, in a ‘Did someone turn back the clock?’ kind-of-way. No line at security check. Even had time to buy myself a bagel at an airport cafe.

Just like your neighbor, the small businesses in your area, your friends, and family— the Spirit World has got your back when you take the time to develop a relationship with them. You’ll start to notice spirit synchronicities, acknowledgments, and greetings on a regular basis. You’ll naturally develop sensitivities and awareness.

It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes: “If we relate to the natural world as alive, full of spirits and elemental beings, the natural world speaks to us."—Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, Healing With Form, Energy, and Light: The 5 Elements in Tibetan Shamanism, Tantra, & Dzogchen

May you be inspired by the Spirit World calling out to you!
